WIN A CLASSIC Ezine rates all
A.C.E.s (Automotive Chance Events) with a short rating system that may, at
first, seem cryptic to you, but the rating system is easy to
understand.
The First identifier can be an "A", "B",
"C", or a "D". This indicates the quality that we
assign to the event, "A" being the highest and "D"
being the lowest.
The Second identifier indicated the amount of the tickets being sold and
can either be a "U" for Unknown or a number such as
"1500" which signifies that the number
of tickets being sold will be limited to "1500". When an
organization limits the number of tickets that are being sold, this sets
the odds, the odds for the above figure being "1 in 1500". These
events always rate higher because of the better odds. The letter
"U" is for unknown amount of tickets to be sold but this doesn't
always make the event a lesser desired event or in some cases it doesn't
even mean that the odds are poorer, but we don't know that till after the event.
And we are looking for an edge.
The Third identifier will, almost always be a "C" to
signify that the organization holding the event is a
"Charitable" organization, as most of these events are held by
Non-Profit or Charitable organizations. Primarily because the local
governments only allow this kind of event to be held for Non-Profit
organizations. A For Profit or Business Promotional will be Rated
"P".
Example: A-1500-C equals an "A" event with only 1500
tickets to be sold and it is a Charitable organization.
Other identifiers that you will see from time to time are
"50/50", this means that the organization holding the event is
nervous about getting enough tickets sold and are covering their butts by
saying that if enough tickets aren't sold to satisfy them, they will take
all proceeds and split it 50/50 with the winner, in that event the vehicle
won't be raffled. We like these events too as they mean Cash! There
are also events called "Winner's Choice" that offer the winner
of the event the choice of the car or a set amount of cash, this is good
and we generally rate these events higher. There is also the occasional
additional identified of "D" added it the ratings to make
it 4 sets of identifiers, such as D-D-U-C, the second "D" means
that the event is held in foreign country, the most common is Canada,
these are higher risks and we feel call for more warning. Also you will occasionally
see the letter "P" which indicates additional prizes such as an
"Early Bird prize" or 2nd & 3rd prizes, these prizes are
most offer cash and are used to sweeten the deal.
All in all, the rating system is
arbitrary and you should not construe anything on this website to mean
that we recommend any event AND you should never spend money on an event that you need to
pay the rent or bills! Use only discretionary money that you can afford to
lose! While we have to admit that our slogan of "Better Odds Than The
Lottery!" is correct, it is still a gamble, that is why we call it WIN A CLASSIC! But it is soooo much fun and the rewards can be classic! |
